Which favicon sizes do I really need?

32×32 covers most desktop browsers, 180×180 is used by Apple devices, and 192×192 plus 512×512 are required for Android and installable web apps. 16×16 and 48×48 improve sharpness in tabs and search results.

Is my image uploaded anywhere?

No. Resizing happens with your browser's canvas, so the file never leaves your device.

Why does my new favicon not show?

Browsers cache favicons aggressively. Clear the cache or open the site in a private window after replacing the files.

Do I still need favicon.ico?

Modern browsers accept PNG favicons. Keep an .ico only if you must support very old browsers.
